Mary studied Linguistics at York University and worked for several years in non-governmental organisations. She went on to study law in Glasgow and completed her training at London firm, Bates Wells & Braithwaite, where she qualified in 1996. Mary has been a partner at Gordons since 2007 and is now head of the Residential Conveyancing Department in our Guildford office.
Her expertise is in leasehold and freehold residential property transactions. She acts for a broad range of clients including first-time buyers, offshore trusts and individuals buying and selling at the very top of the London market. She is also retained by several banks specifically to oversee their lending on residential property in the UK.
Mary is renowned for achieving deadlines under pressure. Her calm and thorough approach leads to a great deal of repeat business and she is often praised for her ability to explain legal complexities in layman’s terms – a key attribute when dealing with what is often the most important transaction a client will ever undertake.
