The 10,000 Steps for Justice was a success!

Members of our team, at Gordons Partnership LLP, signed up to take part in the London Legal Walk which is a 10K walk to support the frontline free legal advice services.

In 2019, 15,000 people took on 10k for Justice at the London Legal Walk, raising a record breaking £890,000.

The walk was meant to take place on 8th June but has been postponed until 5th October. However, a virtual event was organised, which took place on 8th June 2020, called 10,000 Steps for Justice.

To participate in the virtual 10,000 Steps for Justice, members were required to share their steps on social media on 8th June accompanied with the hashtag ‘#10Kstepsforjustice’. The photo could either be of the walk or a screenshot of the step count.

The loss of funding in the charity sector means advice agencies are doing all they can to meet rising need despite a drastically restricted income. Emergency applications for funding have been pouring in, with some advice charities citing a 600% increase in requests for help.

The very nature of Covid-19 means that there has been a surge in demand for support and help from free legal advice charities as many people seek assistance with employment, housing, and debt. This increased need for urgent, professional advice, combined with a drastic reduction in advice agencies’ income has created a perfect storm of injustice for so many with nowhere else to turn.

We are thrilled to report that we were have currently raised £245.

However, it is not too late you can still donate as the actual walk has been postponed until 5th October.
